Zoom Talk about Helsinki, Finland
Monday 20 April 2026
Are you planning a trip to Helsinki this year, next year or maybe sometime in the unspecified future? Or do you just want to find out more about the history, art and culture of Finland and it's amazing capital, Helsinki?
Then join us for this Zoom talk on Monday 20th April at 6pm.
The one-hour talk will be given by Claire Gould who will be leading the Friends' study tour to Helsinki in June. Claire spent some time early in her career at the Whitworth but she is currently based in Copenhagen as an independent art curator. She has lived and worked in Helsinki with one of it's major galleries and has an in-depth knowledge of the city. She has put together a wonderful compendium of information about what to see and why to see it, linking the art and architecture of Helsinki today to its fascinating history.
If you are curious about the values that make Finland such an interesting and distinctive country - and the food that is putting it on the gastronomic map! - then this is your opportunity to find out more.
The picture in the photo above is by Finnish artist Gallen Kallela and is titled Lake Keitele. It is owned by the National Gallery in London where it is displayed in Room 44. I acknowledge use of their photograph - see it in the Picture Gallery below.
Further Details:
Cost per person: £12.00
