Day 1 Tues 27 - Departure
- Church of St Mary & All Saints, Chesterfield, a fine historic parish known for its twisted spire. Evidence of a Christian church on the site dates to the Anglo-Saxon era. During the Reformation the church lost much of its medieval decor. It was rebuilt in the 1700s, and restored and embellished by Neo-Gothic architect George Gilbert Scott in the 1840s.
- Newark Air Museum, formally the airfield known as RAF Winthorpe during WWII. An impressive collection of over 80 aircraft and exhibits that celebrate the legacy of flight, aviation heritage and its association with Bomber Command.
Day 2 Wed 28

Tattershall Castle (NT) & Collegiate Church originally built in C13th and rebuilt in C15th. It's impressive Great Tower and moat remain today. With its huge Gothic fireplaces and church-like windows, it was designed to impress. Built by Lord Ralph Cromwell, Treasurer of England under Henry VI, it was designed to show off his wealth, position and power.
- Ayscoughfee Hall Museum & Gardens, a Grade 1 listed building, built for a wool merchant in 1450. A unique survivor of a family house from the mid-15th century. Set in 5.5 acres of gardens, Ayscoughfee Hall provides a fascinating glimpse into Spalding's past.
- St Gilbert & St Hughes Church, Gosberton Clough, built in 1902-3, the unique design of the church was influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement
Day 3 Thur 29
- Lincoln Cathedral, dating back to the 1072 and considered to be the tallest building in the world up to the year 1548. One of Europe's finest Gothic Cathedrals renowned for its stunning architecture, stained glass and the famous Lincoln Imp
- Lincoln Castle, including the medieval wall walk offering lovely views of the city, its Victorian Prison and the 1215 Magna Carta.
Day 4 Friday 30
- Woolsthorpe Manor, Grantham (NT), birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton. This small farmhouse near Colsterworth, Lincolnshire was the birthplace and home of Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727), widely considered the most important figure in the development of Western science.
- Renishaw Hall and Museum an elegant stately home with Italianate gardens. A guided Hall tour captures the charisma and lasting legacy of the Sitwell family including the Literary Trio, Osbert, Sacheveral and Edith. Also a C20th art collection which includes many works by John Piper
Day 5 Sat 31 Final visits and journey home
- Lincoln Guildhall, one of Englands finest surviving medieval civic buildings which houses some remarkable Tudor treasures
- Usher Gallery Lincoln created to showcase one of Lincoln's most significant private collections . Exhibiting a wide collection of ceramics, clocks, watches, silver and miniatures as well as artwork from esteemed artists like Turner, Lowry and Grayson Perry
