Aster Duo: Nyra Jain- violin, Chloe Chen-cello
Nyra and Chloe are currently in their third year of undergraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester and have been playing together as the Aster Duo since November 2023. They gave their debut performance in March 2024 at the RNCM Concert Hall performing Tico Tico no Fuba by Zequinha de Abreu and Handel-Halvorsen’s Passacaglia and have since performed in various venues and events across the UK, including the Lowther Pavilion and at Goosfest, Cheshire.
Nyra Jain is a violinist from Mumbai, India, and is currently a student of Sebastian Muller at the RNCM. She was the first recipient of the Diploma of the Symphony Orchestra of India Music Academy, where she completed 11 years of study. Nyra has participated in several international masterclasses and competitions and won the Eleanor Warren Salon Prize 2023 at the RNCM and was the recipient of the 3rd Prize at ConBrio 2024 Violin Competition.
Chloe is a cellist from Singapore and is currently studying at the RNCM under the tutelage of Hannah Roberts. She was awarded the John Barbirolli Memorial Prize and the Amy Lindley Prize for Cello. Chloe is a keen chamber musician and is currently part of the ONYX Ensemble and was a member of the Spirit Trio, which won the RNCM Nossek Prize in 2024. She has played with various orchestras, including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and was appointed Principal in the National Youth Orchestra.
The duo enjoys playing a varied repertoire consisting of a range of genres and are always keen to explore new pieces.
