FoW AGM
Tuesday 01 April 2025
We would like to welcome you to the Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the Whitworth at 2pm on Tuesday 1st April.
Our AGM is a great way to meet each other and get up to date. We will talk about all the trips, events, tours, talks and exhibitions we have enjoyed over the past year and how we have supported The Whitworth through our donations.
After the business part of the meeting, we will welcome Valentin Diakonov, (b. 1980, Moscow, USSR) curator of Modern and Contemporary art at the Whitworth. Previously he has been the critic in residence at the Core Program, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; senior curator at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow. He’s written thousands of reviews and articles on art and curated independently since 2010.
His talk is entitled,
Outside Looking In: Searching for the Common Ground - A brief outline of his geographical and intellectual wanderings over the last three years, starting with Russian invasion in Ukraine and the consequent implosion of culture and ending with the current projects and research initiatives at the Whitworth.
This should be an extremely and interesting talk and we hope you will come along and join us. Needless to say, tea and coffee will be provided.
Further Details:
This is a free event
Booking deadline: 24/03/2025
The AGM will take place in the Grand Hall from 2pm to 4pm.
It’s free to come but we’d be grateful if you could book so that we have an idea of numbers. You can book here if you are already a member or if not but you would like to join us and support our wonderful Gallery, do come along too and we will be happy to sign you up.
