Sakura Drops Duo
Noa Nishizawa euphonium & baritone horn
Sharon Fung percussion
Sakura Drops Duo was established by Noa Nishizawa on Euphonium and Sharon Fung on percussion. The group was formed in 2022 and regularly perform contrasting styles of music including baroque, classical and contemporary. Sakura Drops Duo features a diverse range of musical works from all over the world. Their regular programme includes pieces from completely different contestants across the world from Brazil, the UK and Japan.
To incorporate a contrasting soloistic sound, one of the members, Noa Nishizawa plays baritone horn in addition to euphonium. They felt that her command of the instrument combined with the brighter sound would certainly add a different dimension to our performances. Sharon Fung plays various percussion instruments including marimba, vibraphone and multi none tuned percussion.
Noa Nishizawa was born in Japan. She is an ambitious musician and has been playing with several championship section brass bands in the UK. In addition, she is a musician who has hearing disability, however she continues her musical career with the support of those around her.
Sharon Fung is a Hong Kong-born musician who has Amniotic Band Syndrome where she only has five complete fingers to play. Despite the challenges and pain, she is still actively performing in various ensembles and was awarded a Yamaha Music Europe Foundation Scholarship in 2023.
