Taisiia Holovko saxophone
João Correia saxophone
Contigo Saxophone Duo was founded in 2023 by two saxophonists, Taisiia (Ukraine) and João (Portugal), who met whilst studying at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). Both members are currently pursuing Master’s degrees postgraduate at RNCM and share a deep passion for the classical saxophone. The word Contigo in the duo's name is Portuguese, derived from the Latin word cumtecum. The closest English translation is with you. As music is an art created by people for people, the duo chose this name to reflect their mission of sharing a closer connection with their audience (contigo).
The duo is dedicated to exploring a wide range of musical genres, from romantic compositions to modern classical works incorporating complex techniques like multiphonics and altissimo register. Over the past year, Contigo has performed at several concerts, showcasing their unique blend of styles and technical skill. Notably, they participated in a charity concert for Ukraine, where they used their music to support a meaningful cause. Looking ahead, the duo is committed to continuing their collaboration and delivering beautiful, engaging performances for diverse audiences.
