Barbara Walker Exhibition Tour
Tuesday 14 January 2025
Join Poppy Bowers, Whitworth Senior Curator – Exhibitions, on this special tour of the Barbara Wallker exhibition ‘Being Here’ before it closes at the end of January.
Poppy, who worked with Barbara Walker from planning to curating the exhibition, will guide us through the exhibition and give an insight into what it takes to plan and construct a major event.
The exhibition has received excellent reviews. 'Being Here' presents over 70 extraordinary artworks, including rarely seen paintings, her Turner Prize nominated drawing series Burden of Proof (2022-23), and a newly commissioned printed wallpaper Soft Power (2024).
The Friends supported an acquisition in March 2020 of three drawings on embossed paper – “All the Kings Men”, “Parade 1” and “Backdrop”. The donation was gifted in memory of the late Rosemary Marsh, a previous Chair of the FoW.
