The late 19th century was the heyday of the hat and Stockport’s hatting industry became large and prosperous at this time. Join our tour of the Factory Floor where the ‘hard hatting’ facts about Stockport’s hat trade are highlighted and you can see our restored hat -making machines in motion.

There will be time to wonder through the Museum, the only hat museum in the UK and explore the global connections of Stockport’s hat collection and be inspired by the array of colours, shapes, patterns and textures of the hats on display.

You can walk can do this either before or after the 11.00am tour.

Enjoy coffee before and stay for lunch afterwards at the Arc Café, run by volunteers.

It’s a great opportunity to travel by train to Stockport Station, 5 minutes’ walk from the Hat Works Museum.
