South Asian Textile Research Project
Tuesday 11 August 2020
Uthra Rajgopal will be giving a presentation about her recent research trip to India, Bangladesh and Pakistan to seek out contemporary female artists working in the field of ‘textile art’. This research is part of the New Collecting Award she received from the Art Fund in 2019 and will contribute towards new acquisitions in contemporary South Asian textile art by female artists at the Whitworth.
The presentation will include her own personal insights into various cities so it won’t be entirely art-focused, but more holistic-focused giving people an opportunity to ‘experience’ some of the amazing places she visited and the wonderful people she met during her travels.
