Not Just Our Annual General Meeting
Not Just Our Annual General Meeting
Thursday 19 March 2020
A Gallery in the Park! One of the many distinctive characteristics of the Whitworth is its location in the Whitworth Park and the views this give us, during the Sunday Concerts, for example, or from the lovely Café in the Trees. Although formally the responsibility of Manchester City Council, and therefore a separate entity from the Gallery, the Park and its proximity has enabled the Whitworth Gallery to incorporate many events into its programme, from the bi-annual Frost Fair to the Natural Cultural Health Service sessions https://www.whitworth.manchester.ac.uk/whats-on/events/naturalcultural/
We are very pleased, therefore, that, before the formal agenda, we are able to begin this year’s Annual General Meeting on March 19th 5pm to 6pm, with presentations about Whitworth Park and its future. Patrick Osborn, the Landscape and Sustainability Technician, who with his team of staff and volunteers looks after the Park’s infrastructure, and Francine Hayford, Cultural Park Keeper, who manages the extensive-and growing-programme of activities will tell us about their work. Alistair Cox, Chair of our sister organisation, Friends of Whitworth Park will also describe what the Park Friends are doing to involve the community in the care and life of the Park.
If you are a member of the Friends-and you can become a member for just £27 a year here https://www.friendsofthewhitworth.org.uk/Article/Membership - please come along.
And there's more!
At the end of the meeting, join us for a glass of wine and then head of to Gallery 3 downstairs.
Our Student Friends, with the help of Art History: B-Sides, will be waiting to entertain you and take you on a journey through some of art history's lesser known by-ways. There will be light! There will be art! There will be fun-and a chance to make your own master/mistress piece!
And Finally...
...head off to the Cafe in the Trees for a bite to eat-and a splendid view of the Park!
