In the Millennium Gallery The Ruskin Collection also known as the Guild of St George Collection, was originally formed by the influential Victorian artist, writer and critic John Ruskin as an educational resource for the people of Sheffield. With the help of his Guild, Ruskin put together this collection to display in Sheffield as a creative and educational tool for Sheffield’s metalworkers.
Christopher Dresser (1834–1904) designed products that were radical in their time and still look contemporary today. He is thought of as the first independent industrial designer and is recognised as a pioneer of modern product design. This display showcases a selection of Dresser’s work, including innovative and striking home ware products, designs and photographs.
We will also have a brief visit the Site Gallery an international contemporary art space.
