Chris Cundy is a composer, and arranger playing bass clarinet and other unusual woodwind instruments. He currently works between the extremes of popular and experimental music. Exploring a self-developed approach to the instrument through multiphonics, circular breathing, and other extended technique Chris has also taken his playing into contemporary classical areas. He maintains a career in popular music and has toured internationally with a wide variety of artists. The Disruptive Forest was written in 2016 and first performed at a small synagogue in Gloucestershire where it was recorded for the Confront Recordings label. It is a set of short instrumental dances, using oblique melodies inspired by various narratives, ballads, and myths surrounding the theme of the forest in storytelling. Many of the themes were sourced from Alexander Porteous’ compendium of poems and legends The Lore of the Forest published in the 1920’s.
