We are organising a 5 day trip to Hull based in the city centre in October 2017 travelling by Private Coach from Manchester and we will be accompanied by experienced Guide Jane Brand.
Our itinerary has been planned to include and take advantage of our time when travelling to / from and whilst in Hull and we aim to include the following interesting and especially varied visits:
- Doncaster Minster - The present Minster Church of Saint George was built to the designs of George Gilbert Scott between 1854 and 1858 after the mediaeval church was destroyed by fire in 1853.
- Doncaster Museum & Art Gallery - opened in 1964 to display important collections of natural history, archaeology, local history and fine and decorative art.
- Hull & East Riding Museum – boasting some of the most spectacular natural history and archaeology displays in Britain.
- Wilberforce House – Wilberforce House is the birthplace of William Wilberforce, Hull MP and slavery abolitionist whose campaign made the establishment of Freetown (Sierra Leone) possible.
- The University of Hull Art Collection –a small but outstanding collection specialising in paintings, sculpture, drawings and prints produced in Britain 1890-1940.
- Burton Agnes Hall - an Elizabethan stately home housing magnificent carvings, French Impressionist paintings, contemporary furniture, tapestries and modern artwork.
- Ferens Art Gallery–exhibiting a magnificent and diverse collection, ranging from the medieval period and European Old Masters to contemporary video portraits.
- Beverley Minster - one of the largest parish churches in the UK and regarded as a gothic masterpiece
- Burton Constable Hall - a magnificent Elizabethan mansion with Capability Brown landscaped parkland. Discover 30 rooms of faded splendour filled with fine furniture, paintings and sculpture.
- Cooper Gallery, Barnsley - a vibrant creative art-space containing fine art, special exhibitions and works by local artists.
