Malcolm and Mark are both from Edinburgh, where they studied at the City of Edinburgh Music School. They were part of a Scottish folk group there who spent a lot of time creating new pieces together by improvisation. They have been playing as the Merlin duo for two years now and are particularly interested in performing contemporary repertoire.

The Sunday Concerts take place due to a generous bequest to the Friends of the Whitworth by Gina Miller.
