We are organising a 5 day trip to Hampshire based in Winchester in March 2017, travelling by Private Coach from Manchester and we will be accompanied by an experienced Tour Manager.
Our itinerary has been planned to take advantage of our time when travelling to / from and whilst in Winchester and we aim to include the following especially varied visits:
- Hidcote Gardens – one of the best-known and influential Arts & Crafts gardens in Britain
- Winchester Cathedral – Europe’s longest medieval cathedral. Discover the beautiful illuminated Winchester Bible, 12th century wall paintings, medieval carvings and contemporary art
- Mary Rose Museum – dedicated to the 16th century Tudor navy warship The Mary Rose. Built in 1510, sunk in 1545, discovered in 1971 and raised in 1982, now in the final stages of conservation, she takes her place in a stunning and unique museum
- HMS Victory–Nelson’s flagship best known for her role in the Battle of Trafalgar, the Victory currently has a dual role as the Flagship of the First Sea Lord and as a living museum to the Georgian Navy
- Osborne House, Isle of Wight – Queen Victoria & Prince Albert’s family home – sumptuous state rooms, private family rooms, Queen Victoria’s beach, the royal children’s Swiss Cottage and stunning gardens
- Hauser & Wirth – a pioneering world-class art gallery and multi-purpose arts centre featuring new and innovative exhibitions from emerging and established contemporary artists
- Salisbury Cathedral – a leading example of Early English architecture this vibrant Cathedral church has the best preserved Magna Carta & Britain’s tallest spire
- Sandham Memorial Chapel – world famous chapel exhibiting visionary paintings by Stanley Spencer, arguably one of the world’s most important twentieth century artists
